SEMITONIS ONLINE LIMITED

Thank you for choosing Semitonis Music programme to extend your child’s music
education needs. The Latin word Semitonis means 'to listen' and was developed in 2015 to extend my students and
help them succeed in Aural and Composition for Trinity, ABRSM and other
examination systems. I have developed the Semitonis teaching system by giving
students online as well as in-person and personalized teaching support and
learning strategies. With positive feedback received from students about
Semitonis coupled with a 100% pass rate (Excellent, Merit and Pass), music
students enjoyed the interactive approach (Webcam teaching) and could effectively gauge their
progress to success as they received individualized feedback after each lesson or
contact session. From this year onwards I intend to extend Semitonis lessons
progressively to Australia.
Each unit of 10 lessons are carefully researched, planned and structured and
each lesson ends with a test or task to challenge student learning that leads into
the next lesson or unit. Marks allocated for completed tests or tasks are then
expressed in graph format so students and parents could easily monitor progress
as well as see strengths or weaknesses within units. Lessons are continuously
reviewed and reflected upon to address particular weaknesses and to
recommend strategies to help build confidence in skills and application of
musical knowledge. My book: Music For New Zealand Years 9 and 10, published
in 2013 by Cambridge University Press is a useful textbook to help students
explore different music styles while learning valuable musical knowledge. As part
of rigorous quality assurance, all assessed work will be moderated internally and
externally to meet national as well as international standards. Semitonis is an
inclusive teaching programme and students and parents are continuously
encouraged to form part of the learning and teaching process. I am also
committed to collaborate with student host schools /institutions to ensure
registration of credits towards qualification (for example, VCE, CIE or NCEA or Music
credits). Semitonis will ensure the highest quality of lesson and teaching quality
delivery, and personalized for every student. With Semitonis approved students can
now opt to complete school-based (for example, VCE, CIE or NCEA Music) or higher at an earlier age, for example
whilst still in Year 9 or 10, and based on abilities could even complete L3 Music
by the time they reach Year 11. An added bonus is that all these learning and
teaching happens in the comfort of students own home or studio environment. Some of

•Students are taught by Australian and New Zealand registered and qualified trained teachers.
•Students complete music as subject privately and to reach their full potential in music at own pace and at an earlier anticipated age than usual.

•Students learn at their own individual ability level and pace and without distractions usually associated with big classes at schools.
•Students follow focused, personalized teaching and learning that includes online and webcam interactive teaching and learning practices.
•Students use world class resources as well as own researched and published resources developed by Semitonis.
•Students develop effective time-management skills and pace their academic load at high school more efficiently, for example completing L3 Music at Year 11 allows for more time to concentrate on other academic subjects.
•Students could opt to complete two different qualifications and examination systems in the same year, for example ABRSM and school music qualifications (fees apply)
•All credits gained before Year 11 will be ‘banked’ with the exam bodies through approved AU school and until such time that a student reaches Year 11 or higher.
•Progress reports are issued quarterly to parents and where needed to host schools/institutions.
•Students are assessed by Semitonis on completion of internal school standards and all assessed work will be moderated by an independent appointed Moderator before grades are submitted to the exam body of an AU partner school
•An assessment date schedule will assist students to help with planning and time management.
•Students are encouraged to make direct contributions and input to when, where and how they wish to learn in consultation with provider. Students will have practical opportunities to develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills within the music industry context.
